Marble Hill

Sunday has come and gone, but lots to share from today. Saturday night I made my first batch of homemade chocolate turtles. These shells are filed with sweet caramel and a crunchy pecan. My dear friend Nancy shared this recipe over the holidays, and it has been a huge success!

Today’s little escapade was to the ‘town’ of Twickenham, also located within the Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Walking along streets I again admired wonderful homes, until I reached the park of Marble Hill House. The town has three grand period mansions, and this was the only one I haven’t seen yet! The Palladian villa was built in the 1720’s, and  the design became the standard model for plantation houses in the American colonies.

As an end to day, I decided to treat myself at a little shop I have been eyeing for some time now, called ‘Drink me, Eat me’. This vintage tea shop not only serves delightful treats, but has a corner where visitors can admire (and purchase) wonderful little gifts and greeting cards. Just my type of place!

Another sunny day has passed with new discoveries and pins to my London map.
