Date night with Jamie

It’s been raining in London this week. So my morning was spent at home. Working on UK job applications, laundry and the typical everyday tasks.

For lunch, I made myself a quick salad, which is super tasty. I used spinach and rocket (arugula) greens mixed with cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Just as I was finishing up the dishes, I noticed the sun appear! So I quickly grabbed my jacket, purse and umbrella and headed out the door.

I just did a two hour walk in the neighbourhood. No matter how many times I go for a walk, I always find pretty flowers and cute new doors. I also always seem to end up in Syon Park at the Garden Centre. There is just something about it that makes me happy. My sister Anna thinks it’s because it remind me of her. Maybe it is. Maybe it’s the beautiful roses in the sunshine. Or the succulents in the greenhouse. Either way, it’s my happy place. On my way out, I decided to splurge on a tin of savoury biscuits, aged cheddar. It will go perfectly with a cup of afternoon tea!

When Laci got home from work, we decided to go out for the evening. We went to Westfield mall in Shepherd’s Bush neighbourhood. It’s a beautiful modern shopping centre full of great stores and restaurants. Celebrating Tuesday, we decided to try Jamie Oliver’s kitchen for the first time. I mean after all the hype, one must try the empire’s offerings. We started with a plate of mixed breads. They were delicious with the sundried tomatoe sauce on the side. For the main course, Laci opted for steak. I decided to try smaller portions of different items. Salad, rosemary potatoes and a plate of small fried fish. The sauce came in a seashell. It was not only pleasing to the eye, but a treat for the tastebuds!

We finished our night by exploring the shopping centre, and cleansing our palette with gelato. A successful Tuesday night, we are ready for rest!

We can’t wait to have some friends over to take them out for a dinner date with Jamie!
